I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh. My research, teaching, and public work are on aspirational social planning for good lives and decent societies.
So far as I know I’m the only anthropologist in the world teaching whole courses on anthropology of happiness. Apart from ongoing synthesis of research on happiness and social progress from lots of disciplines, currently I’m working on some more specific themes: walking for wellbeing; befriending; engagement with natural environments.
